Devappa Memorial Scholarship

Devabhagya Foundation in association with Academy for Creative Teaching Trust is offering Devappa Memorial Scholarship to provide financial assistance to meritorious students to enable them to complete their education.

Scope

This scholarship is provided to the students studying in Karnataka State, India. This scholarship is instituted to help meritorious students who are facing challenges to pursue higher education due to financial constraints. The scholarship tenure will commence on receiving SSLC results and eventually getting admission to Pre-University level. The students who are willing to pursue higher education only, are selected for the scholarship. The scholarship will be provided until they complete their graduation/post-graduation/first level of graduation in professional courses.

Eligibility

The following are the criteria to apply for the scholarship:

  1. The scholarship is provided to the students who have completed SSLC/10th grade in the academic year 2022-23 only.
  2. The students who are from a family in which the annual income does not exceed INR 4,00,000/- are eligible to apply. (Certificate of proof to be provided).
  3. The student should have scored a minimum 85% in SSLC/grade X. 
  4. The student should be willing to pursue higher studies. The scholarship is purely based on merit.

Duration Of Scholarship And Its Renewal

The duration of the scholarship will be for the period of 5 years for graduation and up to 7 years for post-graduation. In case the student is into technical or medical stream, then the number of years will differ depending upon the duration of the course. 

The scholarship has to be renewed every year. The same merit and other process has to be followed to renew the scholarship except providing the income certificate. It is enough if the income certificate is submitted every alternate year. The student should also provide the attendance and study certificate duly signed by the Head of the Institution during the renewal of the scholarship.

If the student is unable to appear for the annual examination due to ill health or any unforeseen event and wishes to continue the education, then the scholarship may be renewed for the next academic year on submission of the medical certificate and other relevant documents. The same has to be certified by the Head of the Institution stating that the student may have cleared the examination if she/he had appeared for it. 

If, the student wishes to join diversified courses such as Fashion Designing, Air hostess training, Animation courses, any skill development courses and likes, which are not offered by any statutorily recognised institutions, then the student would be entitled to get the scholarship only after convincing the selection committee, for choosing such course. However, the student will have to go through aptitude tests for taking up the courses and the selection committee will decide the tenure of the scholarship.

In case the student drops out from any course in between the academic year or stops going to school/college, then the scholarship will be stopped from that academic year itself.

Selection Procedure

The application will be made available online and would be shared with the schools, colleges and universities.

Applicant is required to submit the application along with the marks cards, income and caste certificate issued by the competent/relevant authority.

The applicant is also required to submit a verification form duly signed by the Head of the Institution.

Applications that are  not verified by the Head of the Institution will be treated as ‘INVALID’.

Initial Scrutiny will be done by the team of academicians from Academy for Creative Teaching, Bengaluru.

Final selection will be done by the selection team with a minimum of 5 members representing the committee. 

Rate Of Scholarship & Parent Income Ceiling

The total tuition fee will be paid every year from 1st PUC till the student completes graduation/ post-graduation / first level of graduation in professional courses. At the graduation, post-graduation and professional level, the tuition fee of only government allotted seats will be released. 

The parental family income, from all sources should be less than or equal to Rs. 4,00,000/- per annum. In case of the parents/guardians with salaried income, the gross salary would be the criteria. Income certificate to be provided while applying for the scholarship.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The total income of the family includes the aggregate income of self, father and mother only; the income of other members of the family will not be considered.
  2. If the father is no more, then the income of the mother has to be considered.
  3. If both the parents are not alive and the student is under the care of a guardian, then granting scholarships would be decided after scrutiny case-by-case.
  4. The student should also provide the details of the property (both movable and immovable) of the family viz, House, Land, fixed deposits, cash etc.
  5. In case of the salaried individual the gross salary and the income from other sources will be considered. 
  6. The student must maintain a minimum attendance of 85% at school/college/institution. The certificate of the same is duly signed by the Head of the Institution to be submitted during the renewal of the scholarship.
  7. The student is required to maintain the academic percentage of minimum 80% during PUC and a minimum of 8 grade or equivalent grade in the graduation and post-graduation level.

  1. The scholarship is applicable if the student is studying in Karnataka only. In case the student intends to study abroad or in other states, the scholarship may be considered by the selection committee on a case-to-case basis.
  2. If the student completes graduation in one stream and wishes to join another stream, then the continuation of the scholarship will be decided by the selection committee, after a personal interview.
  3. The student should attend the training programs conducted by the Academy for Creative Teaching, Bengaluru on motivational and career counselling sessions. 
  4. If the student completes education in one subject and wishes to take up another subject in the same stream, the scholarship will be decided by the selection committee after verifying the need and suitability.
  5. If the student is getting a scholarship from any other institute/person, then the student can choose anyone only depending on the benefits he/she is getting. The student will not be eligible for the scholarship if he/she selects other scholarship. 
  6. If at any point of time during the period of scholarship, it is found that the student has intentionally given incorrect details or information in order to obtain the scholarship, then the scholarship shall immediately be cancelled and appropriate legal proceedings will be initiated against the student and parent/guardian.

Original records such as Income Certificate issued by the concerned Government Authority, Marks of the qualifying examination, Caste Certificate, conduct and Character Certificate of the school qualifying from, and other records as may be asked for. Copies of the same have to be enclosed along with the application form, without any of which, application shall not be considered.

7) How much is the Scholarship amount?

It depends on each student’s tuition fees. The total tuition fee will be paid.

8) Whether it is compulsory for the applicant to have a bank account?

No, the tuition fee will be directly paid to the college account directly.

Mode of Payment and Scholarship Amount

Once the scholarship is approved, the student has to provide the following details:

  1. Account details of the College (Bank name, IFSC code, Branch name).
  2. Copy of Aadhar Card.
  3. PAN details, if any.
  4. Aadhar card of parents/guardians.
  5. PAN details of parents/guardians.
  6. Four passport size photographs.  

The payment will be made directly to the educational institution, once the student gets the notice of admission and submits the tuition fee details, duly signed by the Head of the Institution.
